"The Real Thing"
This is is a feature where I play a single from the past that for some reason never made the UK Top 40, but is deserving of another play.
This week, we went back to 1989 for the second single to be released from ABC's fifth album, "Up".
At this point, the band decided to experiment with house music. Unfortunately for them, it proved to be a commercial failure. The album only spent one week on the UK Album Chart, getting to number 58, and while the first single from the album, "One Better World" gave ABC their 10th, and final, UK top 40 single, the follow up, "The Real Thing" only got as high as number 68 in the singles chart.
